OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2012. The installation of the first part (support) of reactor pit supporting truss on its due place was successfully completed at the construction site of Leningrad NPP-2. The equipment was installed by area #1 of Installation and Construction Directorate No. 90, a subsidiary of TITAN-2 Holding.

The 35 ton-construction part was installed at mark + 7.50. The work was performed with the Manitowoc 18 000-crane. This work is a complicated assembly, because axial and altitude deviations from design values should not exceed 1.5 and 2mm respectively.

A supporting truss consists of a support, section and body of the truss. After its assembly, it will be located in the reactor pit and is intended to reliably fix the reactor pit and to take weight loads. The truss belongs to the third safety class, the systems of which allow failures and personnel's errors during the accidents beyond design basis to be prevented from, as well as radioactive products to be contained within localization systems.
