OREANDA-NEWS.  August 29, 2012. Officials from Hungary's Ministry of National Development visited Estonia on Thursday and Friday to look at the electric cars project made possible by the sale of carbon emission credits.

The Hungarian Ministry of National Development has followed the successful sale of emission credits by Estonia and progress on the projects arising from the sale. The project they are the most interested in is the project in electric mobility, spokespeople for the Estonian Ministry of Environment said.

"I emphasized to our Hungarian colleagues that the project entails not only the purchase of cars but also the development of a nationwide network of charging stations, which will be completed by the end of this year and thanks to which electric cars will no longer be for local trips only," Minister of Environment Keit Pentus-Rosimannus said.

"It also appears from surveys among residents that residents of the capital are concerned primarily over the noise and impact on the quality of air caused by cars, which are ruled out in the case of electric cars," the minister said after the meeting with Hungarian officials.

On Thursday the Hungarian officials met with people at the Ministry of Economy and Communications, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Kredex foundation over the electric cars project. ABB AS, the company installing express charging stations in Estonia, took the guests to a demonstration ride with an electric car and showed existing charging possibilities in Tallinn.
