OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has been associated with various welfare and engagement initiatives in Haldia. The Haldia team has undertaken several initiatives to improve health, education and livelihood of its communities.In continuation of these efforts, the community relations team at Haldia organised an innovative initiative for the well-being of the communities living around its area of operations. A puppet show to spread health awareness and to promote safe health practices among the community members of Joynagar, Haldia was organised by the team.

The special puppet show included talking dolls that interacted with spectators to educate them on various health-related issues and practices as well as sensitise them on various myths and misconceptions. A spot quiz followed the puppet show to help reinforce facts and also to encourage the villagers to practice it in their day-to-day life.

Speaking about this initiative, Vijayant Ranjan, station manager, Haldia power plant, said, “The objective of organising this awareness programme was to create awareness on the basic health-care practices that will help villagers tackle common ailments, and if possible, prevent them. Our innovative way of organising the programme was well appreciated by the locals.”

This initiative reached out to around 150 villagers, who appreciated the puppet show and the quiz. The villagers also expressed the need of witnessing such initiatives periodically and requested the Haldia team to organise these programmes more frequently.
