OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2012. The Moscow Belorussky Railway Station witnessed the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino ceremony. The RZD Classic brass band, the actors dressed as 1812 Russian and French army soldiers met the event participants, reported the press-centre of RZD.

The event was organized by JSC Russian Railways supported by French-Russian Dialogue association, the Moscow City Government and the Borodino Field national museum reserve. The Russian Federation Central Region and the Moscow City government officials were invited to the event.

JSC Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin spoke at the meeting underlining that the event is more than just celebrating the 1812 Patriotic War heroes but it’s also about being patriotic, loving your homeland, your parents. “This is what history teaches us about”, said V. Yakunin. Acting French ambassador in Moscow Marie Masdupuy addressed the event participants.

The event culminated in seeing off the special electric train to the Borodino station with the signs on its sides reading ‘The 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War’ and accompanied by portraits of the war generals and military accessories images.

The train passengers included over 200 kids: schoolchildren, the children’s railroad participants, Moscow high school and the railway college students.

The young passengers got topical editions and took part in the topical 1812 Patriotic War quiz.

The electric train took kids to the Borodino station where they took part in the bus excursion tour about the Borodino battlefield visiting the Raevsky battery, the Shevardino Redoubt, the Bagration fleches, and the Savior of Borodino convent. They saw the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino show at the Borodisnkoe Pole museum.
