OREANDA-NEWS . September 4, 2012. Specialists of Rakurs’ electric drive department have modernized glass layer vision system of glass unloading line for Borskiy Glass Works OJSC.

The project has been based on block vision system controller of FZ3 series and 5M pixel FZ series high-resolution camera manufactured by OMRON (Japan).

The system has been designed for determination of glass location. An old system realized on KEYENCE controller has been replaced by OMRON vision system.

The old system consisted of control device based on personal computer and three 640x480 resolution cameras had the following disadvantages:

Low reliability connected with outdated equipment;

Setting complicacy;

No setting flexibility (changes are possible just in the bounds of current algorithm);

No technical support in the territory of RF;

Large size.

The new system based on highly efficient industrial personal computer works with one high-resolution camera 5MPX(2432х2044) providing less processing time and increase of the system accuracy (up to 4 cameras can be connected if necessary).

The system’s functions are the following:

System calibration provides bringing to conformity of computer vision coordinate system and handler to assure accurate laying even in case of serious scatter of glass position and angle orientation;

HDR function (HighDynamicRange) increases shot dynamic range providing work with more or less lighted glass with no settings change, decreasing luminous effects influence, increasing control accuracy;

Defects control function;

Possibility of remote change of vision · system formula in case of the line transfer to another product, vision controller supports up to 1024 formulas. Exchange with technological controller is realized through RS232 interface as well as through discreet input and output signals.

Advantages of the new OMRON vision system are the following:

All system’s elements reliability;

Easiness of setting with no demands of maintenance personnel special training;

Possibility of extra functions easy realization;

Maintenance and possibility of OMRON facilities training in the territory of RF.
