OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2012. Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan (MFERIT) hosted an Uzbek-Japanese roundtable on 22 August 2012 within the visit of Japanese business circles led by Nucleus Association Yoshinari Kamiyama.

Representatives of business circled of two states participated at the work of the Uzbek-Japanese cooperation exchange, the press service of MFERIT said.

During the roundtable, Japanese businesses familiarized with investment climate in Uzbekistan, opportunities of cooperation in implementation of high-technologic projects at Navoi free industrial and economic zone and Angren special industrial zone.

In his turn, the Uzbek businesses got acquainted with the activities of Nucleus Association and its members.

During the meeting, the sides considered opportunities on implementation of investment projects in electronics and pharmaceutical industries.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Japan made up USD 162.7 million. In January-June 2012, bilateral trade turnover hit USD 58.7 million.

There are 11 enterprises with Japanese capital in Uzbekistan, including one with 100% Japanese capital. They work in such areas as trade operations, transport services, tourism, healthcare, machinery, metal processing, and light industry.

Some 14 Japanese companies, which work in such areas as export-import operations, supply of equipment and others, accredited in Uzbekistan.
