OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2012. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum (QP), recently presented the Al-Dana Award to Dr. Mohammed Thahir Ismail, Medical Officer from QP’s Medical Services Department, whose First Aid assistance contributed in saving the life of a fellow QP employee on 20 May 2012, reported the press-centre of QP.  

The Al-Dana Award is the highest recognition given by QP to its employees who have distinguished themselves for their outstanding performance, admirable efforts and direct positive input made to the corporation’s day-to-day operations. Some elements of the award criteria include the reduction in business process time cycle, cost saving or revenue enhancement, outstanding commitment to environmental awareness in working practices, extraordinary contributions made towards operational excellence, and actions that result in the saving of lives.

Dr. Ismail is the first QP employee to be named for the Al-Dana Award since the launch of the improved QP Award Program in January 2011. Dr. Ismail personally received a Certificate of Appreciation from H.E. Dr. Al-Sada, including a monetary reward.

“I would like to commend Dr. Ismail for his exemplary competence and heroism in saving the life of a work colleague, and I am confident that his example will truly serve as an inspiration to everyone in the QP family,” said H.E. Dr. Al-Sada in his comments on the occasion.

Also present during the awarding ceremony, which took place at QP Headquarters, were Mr. Ahmad Ali Abdulla Al-Mawlawi, Director Administration; Mr. Ahmad Saif Ahmad Al-Sulaiti, Operations Manager-Dukhan Fields; Mr. Ali Nasser Telfat, Manager, Corporate Training and Acting Manager, Public Relations and Communications; Dr. Haseina Al-Hamad, Acting Manager for Medical Services; Mr. Michael Berendt, Head of Performance Management; and Ms. Haya Mohamed Ali Said Al-Noaimi, Performance Management Analyst.

In addition to the Al-Dana Award, the QP Award Program also makes provision for two further categories, namely the Al-Badla Award (a Letter of Appreciation granted to employees showing significant productivity and enthusiasm in performing their tasks) and the Al-Hasba Award (a monetary reward in addition to a Letter of Appreciation recognizing exceptional performance and/or contribution made by the employee across the Directorate/ Corporate Department).
