OREANDA-NEWS. September 7, 2012. Belarus plans to auction off state-owned stakes in 14 open joint stock companies (OJSCs) by the end of the year, a source in the Belarusian government told reporters.

“Investors have shown an interest in 14 OJSCs: industrial and transport companies.There are furniture manufacturers among them,” the official said.

Some of the companies were put up for sale last year: OJSC Remid (Minsk), OJSC Belarus Marine Shipping Company (Minsk), OJSC Borisov Instrument Making Plant and some other companies.

The deals to sell government-owned stakes in 14 OJSCs have been sent for approval to the head of state. It will take up to 8 weeks to assess the market value of the aforementioned 14 companies, with the appraisal expenses to be compensated by investors after finalizing the deal.

The auctions will take place in December, the official said.
