OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2012.  The Czech works making industrial valves, ARAKO (part of ROSATOM’s machine engineering division, Atomenergomash), has signed a contract for supply of equipment for Leningrad NPP II at a total cost of 4.5 Million euro.

The contract subject matter is supplies of industrial valves, stop valves and globe valves over the next two years. The supplies are covered by the memorandum of cooperation signed with Rusatom Overseas last October, which stated ascension of ARAKO to the ROSATOM’s chain of supply.

ARAKO closely cooperates with the Consortium MIR.1200 in the framework of the Temelin NPP construction project. If the consortium wins the tender, ARAKO intends to supply components to manufacture the reactor. Rusatom Overseas’ Executive Vice President Leos Tomicek believes the nuclear industry of Russia opens great opportunities for Czech companies. He said, the contract signed awarded to ARAKO is a new example of participation of the Czech firms in ROSATOM’s projects. The Czech nuclear machine engineering, in terms of scale and product quality, is a unique in Europe and oriented to the VVER technology, he continued. We think it is quite logical that we want to expand our projects with supplies from first-class products of the Czech producers, L. Tomicek noted.

ARAKO Director General Rovshan Abbasov said: “For a long time our company has supplied high-class equipment for the nuclear industry that is fully confirmed by the signing of the contract for supplies for Leningrad NPP II. The partnership with the Consortium MIR.1200 and our course to the VVER technology is a strategic choice. If the consortium wins the tender for Temelin NPP construction completion, this will open for us great opportunities for getting orders and ensure long-term development of the company in future.”

ARAKO has taken part in supplies of equipment for NPPs built to Russian designs for more than 40 years already, having supplied industrial valves to 23 nuclear power plants built by ROSATOM in eight countries. For three recent years only it supplied equipment totally worth 857,900,000 Czech koruna to Rostov, Smolensk, Beloyarsk and Novovoronezh NPPs.
