OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2012. IDGC of the North-West, JSC will participate in implementation of “Pechenga Power Bridge” project. The project envisages reinforcement of the Kola Peninsula power system electric grid for organization of export of electric energy from Russia to Norway in an amount of 200 MW.

The grounds underlying the project implementation are represented by the Protocol of the Work Team of INTER RAO UES, JSC, SO of UES, JSC and the Norwegian system and grid operator Statnett “On Creation of New 200 MW Power Transmission between Russia and Norway” dated August 31, 2011. The project is developed by INTER RAO UES, JSC and the Norwegian system and grid operator Statnett and envisages creation of infrastructure enabling trans-border electric energy trade between Russia and Norway.
In accordance with the terms of reference, one of the recommended variants envisages reconstruction of IDGC of the North-West, JSC grids within the Nikel Settlement neighborhood (Murmansk Region). In particular, for purposes of increasing power transmission capacity the existing 150 kV “Vykhodnoy—Nikel” (L-403) overhead line is to be switched over to 330 kV voltage.
