OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2012. ELVEES NeoTech, a RUSNANO portfolio company, has begun selling its intelligent video surveillance systems, which are based on advanced chips of its own design. The chips are produced with 90-nanometer technology and below. Total investment in the project is 2.8 billion rubles with RUSNANO cofinancing 1.06 billion rubles.

The design center created within the project designs and develops the integrated circuits and outsources their production to foundries in Russia and abroad. It also markets and sells the company’s products.

ELVEES NeoTech has established an entire line of innovative products based on the new chips: video surveillance and video analytic systems with elements of artificial intelligence that can be used in various sectors of the economy. The portfolio company is already supplying its security systems to large airports and the fuel and energy complex. One of its most recent advances, the Orwell-R radar location system, is capable of guarding unfenced perimeters and territories around the clock and in all weather. The system automatically detects intruders at a distance of up to 1.5 kilometers in an azimuth of up to 360 degrees. Another innovative product from ELVEES is its Statistics system, a video people counter system, with built-in analytics. Designed specifically for companies that are automating retail trade, the system can replace industrial computers in use to this day.

The transition to process technology of 90 nanometers and below has enabled the portfolio company to market ICs and related systems that operate more rapidly and that use less energy. Moreover, ELVEES has been able to reduce the final cost of its systems because they contain fewer ICs with more elements each.

When the company reaches design capacity, in 2015, it will be producing 150,000 systems annually. Forecasted earnings in 2015 are USD 300 million, a large portion of that from sales of cameras and application software.

The portfolio company’s camera and video analytics (a collection of algorithms that carry out artificial intelligence functions within the electronic device) are comparable, and in some regards superior, to the world’s best systems. The camera with its video analytic algorithms can recognize practically everything: faces, license plate numbers, fires, perimeter intrusions, the number of people in a movie theater, at a gathering, or in a store. This special feature makes systems from ELVEES NeoTech appealing to companies from a great variety of sectors.

ELVEES’s devices also feature combined functions of sight and intellect in one device. The camera processes the video stream and separates the important information therefore reducing the required data bandwidth and the computing power.

"In the laboratories at ELVEES NeoTech, specialists did not merely develop technology. They devised a universal platform of video analytics on which systems with elements of artificial intelligence can be created. As a result, around the company’s developments we find an ecosystem of solutions and services created by partners of the project and extending ELVEES’s work,"noted RUSNANO managing director Dmitry Pimkin.
