OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2012. Citizens of Evenkia (Krasnoyarsk region) accepted the project of building of Kuyumba-Taishet trunk oil pipeline. This decision was made at public hearings that took place in Baikit settlement. However, participants of the hearings specified two conditions for the investors – such companies as "TRANSNEFT”, "ROSNEFT”, "GAZPROM”, and ”SLAVNEFT"that have licenses for oil field usage at the territory of Evenkia district:

First, the project shall organically bind infrastructures of oil industry and the territory itself. To fulfill this condition, the oil men should consider the question of allocating funds for building of an all-season motor road along the oil pipeline route.

Second, it is important to estimate the project’s influence to ecology of the territory and to interests of its natives. Investors are recommended to make calculations on the level of influence of the project to the environment, as well as consider variants of compensation for damages to economic entities, to communities of native minorities who lead activities at that very territory.

Andrey Cherkasov, the Deputy Head of Administration of Evenkia district noted, "The giant companies’ coming here – is a new stage of development of Evenkia. Nevertheless, we should understand that hunting and fishing are the main activities of the native inhabitants of subpolar territory. And this is not a whim but a vital necessity”, he said. "After all, global projects bring wealth to the territory, which finally increase the quality of live of every one citizen here. But everyday life of a native inhabitant here only implicitly depends on global projects. To feed one’s family in Evenkia means to provide for provisions of meat and fish for one year ahead”.

The Decree on building of Kuyumba-Taishet oil pipeline in East Siberia was signed in April this year. The total length of the pipeline will amount 700 km, and it will allow joining middle oil fields of Yurubcheno-Tokhomskaya zone to the trunk oil pipeline. The oil pipeline is meant for pumping 15 million tons of oil per year.
