OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2012. At this week’s annual meeting of the Centricity* Perioperative National Users’ Group, GE Healthcare announced AnMed Health (Anderson, S.C.), Maimonides Medical Center (New York), Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and the University of Oklahoma (Oklahoma City) as the winners of its 2012 Customer Innovation Awards. The awards, which recognize customers using GE’s perioperative tools to impact health outcomes or healthcare financials in unique ways, are an annual custom for the group.

AnMed Health met Meaningful Use Stage 1 criteria by leveraging Discrete Data Interfacing (DDI) from Centricity Perioperative to send a completed file outbound for compilation with files from other service areas of the hospital. In addition, Centricity Perioperative provided customization and automation of data sharing required to prepare for the next stages of Meaningful Use.

The operational outcomes honor went to Maimonides Medical Center for its use of Centricity Perioperative Weblink scheduling to drive efficiency of the scheduling process, increase electronic scheduling from physician offices to 75%, build better communication between physician offices and the scheduling department and reduce the number of scheduling errors in the surgery department.

The conference honored Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for optimizing clinical outcomes, as the facility documented more complete PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) patient information using Centricity Perioperative. Centricity Perioperative’s PACU documentation capabilities increased efficiency for PACU nurses with quick touch-screen data entry. The more complete patient record included a seamless continuation of intraoperative values for fluids, medications, and physiologic values.

By using Centricity Perioperative to enhance anesthesia documentation processes, the University of Oklahoma won the Financial Outcomes honor. The health system was able to help support anesthesiologist resident training and to produce over USD10M in financial improvement.

“These customers are among the elite and their accomplishments show the world why,” said Jim Corrigan, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare IT. “We’re proud our product is such an integral component of their practice workflows and we look forward to working with each of them to continue innovating alongside their successes.”
