OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2012. A company from Lithvania, ‘Audrius Ambrasas Architects’ won the first prize in the international architect competition for designing TBC Bank new head office and has been awarded with 50.000 GEL from TBC Bank. The rehabilitation of the building on Vake-Saburtalo (the former Caucasus Military Staff building) will take place according to the winner project.

An awards ceremony was held in the courtyard of the future head office of TBC Bank. The projects holding first, second and third prizes were all exhibited there.

Architects of Invention were the second place winners. The company was also granted a monetary prize of 30, 000 GEL from TBC Bank. The third place winners were two: the Georgian Architectural Company Dmark and Giorgi Khmaladze. Each of them was awarded 10, 000 GEL.

The head of the jury, who selected the winning projects, was famous Italian Architect, Pipo Ciorra, the Senior Curator of MAXXI National Museum of the 21st Century Art in Rome, Italy.

Ciorra said the projects were “very interesting” and all of them had the potential to be selected on the short list. According to him, that was the reason why the jury selected two winners for the third prize.

TBC Bank bought the building on Vake-Saburtalo about 6 months ago and announced international competition for the design and the general plan of the building. This was one of the solid international competitions over the last 15 years in Georgia. 34 companies took part in the contest. 8 of them were international companies and the rest were local ones.

After the reconstruction the new head office of TBC Bank will be the biggest one among the bank buildings in Georgia and as the business-center also the biggest in the country.
