OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2012. The civil works at the OGX Gas Treatment Unit (GTU) is moving ahead at a rapid pace in the Parnaiba Basin, in the interior of Maranhao. Most of the equipment manufactured in Brazil and abroad is already being assembled, and important phases of the work have already been completed, such as earthworks and launching of pipelines.

Currently the clusters (sets of production wells) are being assembled, and the final assembly of the tanks, the mechanical assembly of the GTU and the cabling connecting all the equipment is being carried out. The interconnection of the pipelines between the clusters and the GTU for exporting the gas production is also taking place.

In the first production field in the region, Gaviao Real, 15 out of the 16 wells scheduled to begin production this year have already been drilled. The first phase of gas production will begin in the fourth quarter, with tests at the GTU and at the MPX Parnaiba Thermoelectric Complex turbines where the gas is destined for. Commercial production will take place at the beginning of 2013.
