OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2012. The III Russian-Norwegian Cultural Forum Traditions, Heritage, Novations will open on September, 21 at 10.00 a.m. in the State National Theatre of the Republic of Karelia.

The Forum is held within the scope of implementation of the Plan of Cooperation in the Sphere of Culture in the Far North between the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Norway.

The Ist Russian-Norwegian Cultural Forum took place in 2010 in Arkhangelsk. Successful implementation of projects initiated and presented within the framework of the Forum has made it a traditional communication site for workes of culture and art of the two states. The Republic of Karelia was chosen to be a venue for the forum for the region’s positive experience gained in the sphere of cooperation between the Russian Federation and North Europe, including within the scope of the Northern Dimension cultural partnership and long-term joint projects with the Barents Euro-Arctic Region.

The principal task of the forthcoming Forum is to present new approaches and practices in the sphere of culture. Business program of the Forum, except for the plenary meeting, includes work of the following break-up groups: Modern Visual Art, Literature and Library Science, Synthesis of Performing Arts on Modern Stage, Ethno-Industries.

Considerable attention is supposed to be paid to involvement of the youth in projects in the sphere of culture. Days of Norwegian Culture in Russia is expected to be the Forum’s special event with concerts in Petrozavodsk State Conservatoire and State Musical Theater of the Republic of Karelia, and exhibitions in the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia and VYHOD Media Center.
