OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2012. Tata Motors today started supplying Tata Marcopolo fully-built, front engine CNG buses to route-cluster 2, under the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) cluster scheme. The company has received an order for 320 such buses.

Ravi Pisharody, executive director, commercial vehicle business unit, Tata Motors, said, “With the introduction of the Tata LPO 1613/55 CNG BSIV fully-built, front-engine CNG buses, Tata Motors will comprehensively address the burgeoning need of the residents with a comfortable and convenient offering, with the least CO2 emissions. Tata Motors has always been at the forefront in revolutionising passenger transportation and has closely worked with the New Delhi transport authorities for many years to further increase use of public transport.”

Meant for city transportation, the Tata LPO 1613/55 CNG BSIV fully-built, front-engine bus has been designed as per city transportation needs, with comfortable entry and exit points, ergonomically designed seats and generous saloon space. In addition, destination display boards and public address systems have been installed to enhance the convenience of the passengers.

The BS IV compliant, Tata LPO 1613/55 CNG BSIV drivetrain is driven by a 96kw Tata 5.7 SGI Bharat Stage IV engine, a breakthrough in terms of technology and reliability. The bus has been integrated with a GBS 40 gearbox for higher fuel efficiency, 330mm diameter clutch for enhanced life, heavy-duty forged-I beam and reverse Elliot front axle for better maneuverability. All this translates into a superior performance.
