OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2012.  On the 17-th of September the 56-th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) started in Vienna. Over 155 IAEA Member States are participating in discussions of issues of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, ensuring nuclear and radiation safety and development of the world nuclear power as a whole.

The exhibition organized in the framework of the General Conference traditionally includes a booth of the Russian Federation. The common display demonstrates information about the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, including the companies, such as Rosenergoatom, Atomenergoproekt, United Company NIAEP-ASE, OKBM Afrikantov, OKB Gidropress, JSC TVEL, AKME-engineering, and RosRAO. The exposition describes activities of the companies under key international projects. It also announces the International Conference of the IAEA “Atomic Energy in the XXI Century”, which will be held in St. Petersburg on June 27-29, 2013. The conference will become a key event of the year, which will address global issues of nuclear power development.

The Russian booth is very popular with visitors; it has been visited by heads of delegations of Argentina, Bangladesh, Belarus, Iran and many other countries.

The General Conference will work until September 21, 2012.
