OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2012. The summer meeting of the World Economic Forum, known as the Summer Davos, took place on 10-14 September in China. SCM as a strategic partner of WEF supported the event.

The Summer Davos – officially title The Annual Meeting of The New Champions – is held annual in China and attracts 1500 global political, business, academic and media leader from over 90 countries. This year the theme of the meeting was "Creating the Future Economy" with delegates discussing what makes Asian businesses different from their western peers, the impact of the European economic crisis on other countries as well as a range of other topics.

The discussions in Tianjin focused on how to ensure that the right models are in place to deliver the best possible outcomes for global prosperity, national competitiveness and sustainable, entrepreneurial growth for future generations. Four areas were explored under the conference theme of during the three:

Rethinking traditional markets and existing value chains

Helping meet the challenges of a changing society through entrepreneurial solutions

Reinventing institutions and industries through innovative models

Exploring the new frontiers of science and technology

SCM was represented at the forum by Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of International and Investor Relations, who said: "China and the economies of Asia are collectively one of the key drivers for global economic growth and development. They are also increasingly developed and competitive from both an economic and social perspective. The "Summer Davos" helps east meet west and to get a better understanding of the global changes which will have an impact on a business Group like SCM which both invests in, and trades with, international markets".
