OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 2.3% in August 2012 to compare with 1.3% in July, 1.8% in June, 1.6% in May, 1.7% in April, 1.5% in March, 1.5% in February and 1.9% in January 2012, the National Statistics Committee told.

In January-August 2012 Belarus’ consumer prices grew 14.6%.

In August, staple food prices went up 2.3% (up 16.7% since early January 2012); non-food prices increased 0.6% ( up 7.8%), and service prices went up 6% (22.8%).

Belarus’ inflation grew 108.7% in 2011, while the original forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. The government expects inflation to stay under 19-22% in 2012.
