OREANDA-NEWS.  September 27, 2012. Ukraine intends to increase its presence on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In particular, besides wheat from the Black Sea region futures contract is planning to introduce for a sunflower seed, sunflower seed oil, barley and corn. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

During a working visit to the United States Minister held talks with the managements of Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation, in particular the strengthening of the presence of Ukrainian agricultural products at the market.

"We’ve discussed the conditions that have to be created to introduce futures contracts on domestic sunflower seed, sunflower seed oil, barley and corn. Also we have once again raised the issue of the opening in the first half of 2013 the site of the Chicago Stock Exchange in Ukraine and in the beginning of futures trading in the local currency", - the Minister said.

"The work of the site of the Chicago Stock Exchange in Ukraine will enable farmers to know what the price of grain will be in the next marketing year. Two years later, when harvest was started, farmers could lose up to 30-40% of their income because they did not know what the cost of grain, and grain traders have used this situation. Last year, the Agrarian Fund assumed the function of a guide price of grain, and the Chicago Stock Exchange - on food wheat. From the next marketing year, we want that this guide is an exchange platform"- Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted.
