OREANDA-NEWS. October 1, 2012. Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), India's leading integrated infrastructure and power Company has been re-accredited with an ISO 27001 certification for its power distribution business. The Company had been originally conferred with this Certification way back in 2007; thus, making RInfra the first ever power utility to have this certification in India.

Global firm British Standards Institute (BSI) conducted a thorough audit of various IT processes at several locations and departments of the company before awarding the prestigious ISO 27001 certification.

The recertification will be valid till 2015. This certification will now be extended to the company's other businesses namely roads and metro which are undergoing audits for the same.

While commenting on this, Lalit Jalan, CEO, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. said, “It is a matter of great pride to get the re-accreditation of our power distribution business, in view of the challenges and the complexities involved in establishing the system. We were the first power utility to get this certification, and again, we are the first to get re-accredited.”

He further added, “The certification is a testimony to RInfra’s commitment to maintain the highest level of security of Customers’ information. The Company is also in the certification process of Road and Metro Railways business”

ISO 27001 is an Information Security Management System (ISMS) which is the most widely recognized information security standard in the world. It provides a robust model for implementing the principles in guidelines governing risk assessment, security design and implementation, security management and reassessment. Further, it also ensures the security of information which is the most valuable asset of any organization and is quite comprehensive in its scope and strives to maintain privacy, reliability and availability of data to all stakeholders.
