OREANDA-NEWS. October 2, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 0.8% over the first 11 days of September 2012 and 15.5% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told.

The largest increase in retail prices was registered with

eggs (4.6%), milk and dairy products (1.9%), vodka, prefabricated poultry products (1.8%), smoked sausage (1.3%), wheat flour (1.2%), milk powder blends used as baby food (1.1%), prime-grade boiled sausage, live fish, bread and bakery goods (1%), boneless beef (0.9%), pork (except for boneless meat), butter, mayonnaise (0.8%), confectionery goods (0.7%), fabrics (1.2%), electrical appliances (0.9%), footwear, women’s clothes (0.5%), higher education fees (10.3%), household services (1.1%).

With the arrival of new vegetables and fruits, the retail price of fresh carrots reduced by 11.9%, onions - down 6.3%, potatoes - down 5.6%, beet roots - down 4.9%,

white cabbage – down 4.4%, apples – down 10%.

As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
