OREANDA-NEWS.  October 05, 2012. Shareholder and Chairperson of the Council Valeri Belokon participated -- for the fifth consecutive time -- in the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting which ran in New York and was hosted by former President Bill Clinton, reported the press-centre of BIB.

This year, the CGI unveiled new commitments to address global challenges, examine tools and approaches used to ensure sustainable prosperity and opportunity for all, and foster actions that can be taken by every individual or the society as a whole to design a better future. The forum focused on topics such as investments in ecosystems and social environments, improvement of the access to health care, gender equality and women’s empowerment, energy efficiency (the use of sustainable energy), access to information & technology, etc.

Together with other attendees, Valeri Belokon heard the keynote speeches from President Barack Obama, State Secretary Hillary Clinton, former President Clinton, and speeches delivered by invited guests.

CGI America is the only global-level forum that implements innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. The CGI annually convenes more than 100 heads of state (who also take part in the sessions of the UN General Assembly), Nobel Peace Prize laureates, cross-sectoral leaders (CEOs), heads of foundations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), major philanthropists, and members of the media. This year’s commitments inspire others to transform their ideas and innovation into substantive global action.
