OREANDA-NEWS. October 05, 2012. Transportation of goods between Ukraine and Turkey in the international direct freight rail-ferry service will soon be made without re-registration of shipping documents. That prospect appeared with the signing of the Rules of freight and organizations operating in the international freight cars direct freight rail-ferry service between the ports of Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey ports with rail service. Currently, the Turkish side is upgrading port infrastructure and is working on the harmonization of international transport law.

Transportation of goods without reloading (transfer) in the ports from railway to sea transport and renewal of shipping documents will help to preserve the goods faster transmission to the border, shorten delivery to the recipient, as well as providing legal guarantees to customers for transportation of goods from Europe to Asia.

"We have two terminals that are able to take the ferry. Today, they are loaded onto 15-20% of capacity - Kerch and Ilyichevsk" - said the head of the main commercial department Ukrzaliznytsia Yuriy Merkulov.

Between Ukraine and Turkey we have an increase in the volume of foreign trade of goods. For 8 months of 2012 it amounted to 12 million tons, which is up than the corresponding period of last year to 13%.

In the structure of the general transport of goods between Ukraine and Turkey dominate exports - 61% and transit to Turkey - 38%.
