Vice President of NCTUM Petru Chiriac notes that in line with the law, the minimal wage has to be revised by the government at least once a year. The minimal wage is calculated on the basis of the consumer price index, the average wage in the economy and GDP. This was 2009 when the minimal wage was revised in Moldova last time.

It was raised from 400 to 600 leis. During 2009-2011 the Consumer Price Index increased 15.5, GDP grew 15.1% and the subsistence wage increased 26%. President of NCTUM Oleg Budza stressed that the minimal wage is 41% of the subsistence level and has to be raised as soon as possible.
