OREANDA-NEWS. October 8, 2012. Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ, participates in the fourth international congress "Road Safety for the Safety of Life" held in St. Petersburg.

This year, the Congress will focus on issues related to safety of children on roads, prevention of traffic-related injuries among children. The Congress held under the aegis of the Government of the Russian Federation is intended for the members of parliaments and legislative leaders from the Commonwealth, international transport operators and transport authorities responsible for safety on roads, educators, scholars, business and community leaders as well as the media. The participants attended roundtables to discuss issues of planning and management of road traffic in urban environments as part of public safety, improving road safety through better training of motorists, harmonization of national legislation in ensuring road safety.

Road safety depends on motorists themselves, their skillful driving and knowledge of road regulations. Therefore, effective driving training is very important, especially for cargo transportation. KAMAZ’s top managers think that today’s road simulators, e.g. firmware simulating KAMAZ driving, are not a luxury but a necessity. Their use in driver training has a number of advantages over traditional training, because it helps to simulate a huge number of emergency traffic situations and saves a considerable amount of fuel.

“Effective driver training is the foundation of safe driving”, said Sergey Kogogin at the Congress. In his report “Car manufacturers’ contribution to road safety”, he gave a detailed account of the reasons for poor quality of driver training and proposed a solution to this problem – highly efficient Eidos simulators on the basis of KAMAZ cabs.

The participants of the congress managed to see KAMAZ simulators exhibited specially for the event. They all highly appreciated their advantages which are crucial for driver training and professional development.
