OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2012. The US to increase the financial aid to Moldova by USD 11,5 mln. to USD 40 mln. for further boost od the economy and support of reforms. This is stipulated by amendments to Moldovan-American intergovernmental aid agreements Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat and US ambassador to Moldova William Moser signed in Chisinau.

According to them, the USA to extend Moldova additional gratuitous backing at a sum of USD 11,5 mln. to boost the economic growth, consolidate public legal institutions and support local authoritative bodies. IN particular, the amendment will allow increase the economy boost financing by USD 6.28 mln. to USD 26.74 mln.

The US backing will be used to implement programs aimed at consolidating competitiveness of the private sector in Moldova and developing capacities of small and medium -sized companies. Namely, three projects will be aided: The Agriculture Competitiveness and Enterprises Development (ACED), the Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprises Development II (CEED II) and the Business Regulation, Investment, and Trade Environment (BRITE). Each of them is aimed at increasing the economic integration of the country though creation of new jobs and enhancement of export abilities.

In line with another amendment the backing of local authoritative bodies will be increased by USD 3 mln. to USD 8.59 mln. in Moldova. The money will be used to improve municipal services, enhance their quality and increase the quantity, to make the municipal financial management and energy use more efficient. The amendment to the third agreement stipulates the US grants Moldova additional aid of USD 2.17 mln. for the Program of Consolidation of Public Legal Institutions.

This money will be drawn to enhance efficiency, transparency and responsibility of justice of Moldova by consolidating institutional and operational opportunities of the Supreme Council of Magistrate, the Judicial Administration Department and the National Institute of Justice. Besides, the aid will be provided to the government of Moldova and non-governmental organizations to push forward justice reforms and improve monitoring over them. Special attention will be given to automation of judgment through introducing the computer-aided system of legal procedure.

Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation of Moldova with the USA and noted that within 2009-2012 alone The USA granted the aid of USD 300 mln. to Moldova. William Moser noted the USA government is going to further back Moldova.
