OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2012. Gerdau, one of the leading suppliers of special long steel for the automotive industry in the world, took another step in the diversification of its markets when it developed a new product for the wind power generation industry. New in the Brazilian domestic market, the modified 42CrMo4 steel was created especially for the production of fasteners for wind generation towers.

The new steel developed brings competitiveness to the chain because it meets the high demands of mechanical properties at a lower cost, bringing options to products found in the world market. This way it will be possible to replace the components that were previously imported for fasteners manufactured in Brazil with national raw material, contributing to the rise of local content in wind farms under construction.
