OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2012. Qatar Petroleum (QP) along with many of its joint ventures and subsidiaries has a highly prominent participation in the 26th edition of Gastech, reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.

Held under the theme “Fuelling the future by investing in gas,” the Gastech 2012 Conference and Exhibition brings together all major international and national gas companies as well as thousands of industry professionals from all over the world.

QP’s strong presence in the event is under the directives of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP.

The QP stand, which occupies a total area of 462 square metres, is the largest exhibition stand in the Gastech 2012 exhibition. The stand features the corporation’s operations including the activities of its two directorates, namely Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) and Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC).  Also part of the QP stand are the exhibits of Dolphin Energy Limited, Oryx GTL Limited, Qatar Gas Transportation Company Ltd. (Nakilat), Qatargas Operating Company (Qatargas), and RasGas Company Limited (RasGas).

This high-profile group of exhibitors showcases the continued growth and development of the gas industry in Qatar, which has the world’s third largest gas reserves after Russia and Iran. The combined activities of QP and its subsidiaries and joint ventures have given Qatar the enviable distinction of being the world’s largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and as the global capital of the gas-to-liquids (GTL) industry.

Apart from the participation of Qatari companies in the Gastech 2012 exhibition, the delegation from Qatar also plays a key role in the Gastech 2012 conference. Qatargas, for instance, is represented in the Gastech Governing Body, and a Qatargas official gave a presentation on the first day of the event yesterday. An official from RasGas also took part in yesterday’s Executive Leadership Panel and another delivered a presentation focusing on the Barzan Gas Project. A large number of officials from QP and from its joint ventures and subsidiaries are also attending the event as conference delegates.
