OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2012.  The 57th conference of the Council for Rail Transport of CIS States took place at the conference hall in the Ashgabat Hotel. The representative forum brought together more than 1,500 participants including the heads and specialists of core departments, railway authorities, members of the Council for Rail Transport of CIS States as well as representatives of international organisations working in this sphere and experts.

The main goal of the Council is to coordinate the work of the railway transport at the intergovernmental level, to ensure the technological unity of the network of the international railways and well-coordinated development of the infrastructure. The agenda of the meeting in Ashgabat included the issues of developing coordinated service instructions and freight car turnover, mutual settlement of accounts in this sphere. The conference participants exchanged their views on the prospects of developing the transit and transport corridors and increasing cargo transportation in the region.
