OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2012. During the first 9 months of 2012, the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, added 266 new passenger carriages to its existing fleet, reported the press-centre of RZD.

The FPC bought 232 open-plan carriages, 25 compartment staff carriages, 3 dining cars and six mixed-type carriages.

The carriages were then delivered to the Company’s subsidiaries at North-West, which received 68 units, Moscow (22 units), Gorky (65 units), North-Caucasus (54 units), South East (29 units), Volga (24 units), South Urals (2 units) and the Far East (2 units).

All the new carriages are equipped with air conditioning and composting toilets. As a result, 12,116 carriages or 51.5% of the Federal Passenger Company’s fleet are now equipped with air conditioning and 7,060 carriages with environmentally friendly toilet units (30% of the fleet).

The Federal Passenger Company will continue to renew its fleet as its financial capacity allows.
