OREANDA-NEWS.  October 19, 2012. This was announced by the Economy minister of Moldova at the meeting with Gas Natural Fenosa Managing Director of Regulated Business Antoni Peris. Valeriu Lazar noted openness of authorities for energy efficiency projects and said Moldova would not alter the decision of integrating into the European Energy Community although delays are possible.

According to Valeriu Lazar, diversifying energy sources is the mid-term objective of the government. He thinks it necessary for Moldova to adopt best international practices to change the rules in the market and to amend the regulatory frameworks. Valeriu Lazar welcomed the decision of shareholders of Gas Natural Fenosa to stay in the market of Moldova since it becomes more attractive for investors.

Authorities are interested in waste-generated power but there are opportunity for producing energy from traditional sources in light of Moldova’s relations with gas suppliers, its status of a transit state joining paths of which can be broadened and the power deficit in the Balkans states. Antoni Peris showed his interest in investment opportunities of Moldova in the area of energy efficiency.
