As the Finance Minister stated, introducing the new road toll is very important for fair taxation since at present owners of cars registered aboard are not paying any duties for using Moldova’s roads.

Levying the road toll will allow increasing a size of the Road Fund, which is extremely important of rehabilitation of roads. The new toll is expected to bring to the budget additional 20-25 mln. leis a year. According to Veaceslav Negruta, by paying the new toll, Moldovan labour migrants coming back with cars registered abroad will make their contributions to the development of road facilities of Moldova.

People of Moldova, leaving for abroad, pay taxes in countries they live in. But when they come home they wonder at bad roads although they pay nothing for their maintenance, Veaceslav Negruta said.
