OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2012. Air passengers of Moldova to have the right for recovery of expenses in case of denial of boarding, cancellation or delay of air flights.
This is provided by the Regulation of recovery and assistance to passengers in case of denial of boarding, cancellation or long delay of air flights, approved by the government.

It aims to raise responsibility of air companies and protect rights of consumer of air communication services. According to the document, cancellation or long delay of flights at a distance of up to 1.5 thou. km is recovered 250 euros , cancellation or long delay of flights at a distance of 1.5 thou. km. to 3.5 thou. is recovered 400 euros and cancellation or long delay of flights at a distance of over 3.5 thou. km is recovered 600 euros. Besides, in such cases passengers have to be provided with food and soft drinks in amounts proportional to the time of waiting and with staying over in hotels.

Air companies have to provide them free pass to a hotel and a right for two free phone calls and for use of fax, telex or e-mail. According to the document, a passenger has to be repaired 50% in case of being carried by alternative flights or in a class compartment lower than that fixed. These recoveries will be 30%, 50% and 75% for distances of up to 1.5 thou. km.1.5 thou. km. to 3.5 thou. km. and over 3.5 thou. km.

The document sets forth various norms regulating relations between a carrier and a passenger in case of a denial of boarding, cancellation and a long delay, requirements to a size of recovery; it provides the right for refund or another flight, the right for care; defines the obligation of carriers to inform passengers about their rights and other facets. Moldova committed to adopt such a document as entered the EU Common Air Space Agreement.
