OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2012. Like in the previous year "Concern Galnaftogaz" is among top ten the most transparent companies in Ukraine. "Corporate social responsibility development" Center presented "Transparency index of Ukrainian companies 2012" on October, 11 in Kiev. The research covered 100 major Ukrainian companies by net income and profit received last year.

On October, 11 the director of "СSR development" Maryna Saprykina noted at the press conference that the first transparency index of Ukrainian companies was calculated in 2011. But this year calculation method has changed. In particular, analysts based their calculations on website evaluation results of top 100 national companies for the purpose of information disclosure and activities in the corporate social responsibility area. Thus, during the process of index calculating the importance of non-financial report was reduced, the range of CSR topics was expanded and others. Not only the presence of report on the environmental and social activities was taken into account, but also an easy access to such information on the site.

According to the results of "CSR Development" Center in Ukraine the openness level of big businesses is still critically low. Just 34 companies have site pages devoted to their socially responsible activities; only 9 of 100 companies have reports about their CSR activities. The research shows that companies care mostly about community development (21% of public information) and information for consumers, and the least – they cover ethics and corruption. However there is a trend in which business is gradually moving from implementation of internal CSR to projects aimed at foreign audience.

The President of "Concern Galnaftogaz" Vitaliy Antonov says: ""Concern Galnaftogaz" belongs to those companies in Ukraine which are actively implementing their own CSR programs because that this is one way to improve business performance in the short and long terms. Such activities are practiced from the very foundation of the company, and after its accession to UN Global Compact in 2007 it became more systematic and extensive".

In 2009 the jury of First National Business Case Competition in CSR recognized the company’s "Green Office" program to be the best among the programs implemented by Ukrainian companies in the field of environmental protection. In 2010 at the Second Business Case Competition in CSR company received a special award for barrierless program at filling stations "OKKO" (this program aims to provide free access to all facilities and services for people with disabilities). In 2011-2012 "Concern Galnaftogaz" continued the implementation of these programs and invested significant financial and human resources into the environmental protection, the promotion of "eco-drive" principles (economical driving) and safe traffic, into improvement of living standards of its employees and others, into communication between business community and publicity.
