IBS Group, a leading software development and IT services provider in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced that Michal Cupa is to be the new president of IBS DataFort, subsidiary of IBS IT services. Michal has 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications and IT/software industry, mostly from senior executive positions, reported the press-centre of IBS Group.

Established in 2001, IBS DataFort is one of Russia’s leading providers of outsourced data centre-based services. As such, it has been recognized in the Global Services 100 List and in IAOP’s Global Outsourcing 100 Ranking of Rising Stars. Michal’s primary focus will be to develop IBS DataFort into a leading cloud provider in Russia.

Commenting on his new position, Michal Cupa, IBS DataFort’s new president said, “We are positive that IBS DataFort will become a leader in Cloud computing in Russia. My primary objective is to strengthen IBS DataFort’s team, establish a powerful network of partners, and form relationships with global Cloud leaders to deliver best-in-class Cloud solutions.  In Russia, we see a lot of opportunities and both our local and international customers, are starting to see the benefits of the Cloud. Before joining IBS, Michal Cupa headed Nokia Siemens Networks, Sub Region Russia. Prior to that, he was CEO of Azertelecom (Azerbaijan), General Manager of the Online Services Group at Microsoft Russia, and CEO at Microsoft Czech Republic & Slovakia. Under Michal’s leadership Microsoft Czech Republic was twice awarded No.1 subsidiary worldwide. Prior to Microsoft, Michal spent 15 years in senior executive positions in the telecommunications industry; specifically, in Russia, where he was Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Golden Telecom and General Manager of Sovintel. Michal graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago (USA) and Master of Business Telecommunications degree from Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands).

Mr Matsotsky summed up Mr Cupa’s extensive experience in IT and telecommunications, saying, “Michal possesses unique insights in both IT and telecommunications, and has overseen some major achievements in strategic business development.
