OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2012. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced the launch of the all-new Outlander mid-size SUV for the Japan market at dealerships throughout Japan today. This will be a homecoming of sorts for the new Outlander after going on sale in Russia and Europe. This successor of the previous Outlander core model (which sold about 660,000 units during its lifetime) harmoniously balances high levels of safety, high fuel efficiency, and extended utility to provide a "premium driving experience." The new Outlander's four trim levels' suggested retail price will range from Ґ2,427,000 to Ґ3,100,000.
The new Outlander represents the fusion of every facet of MMC's car-building technology and knowhow. The focus for the new Outlander was on achieving a significantly refined look and feel that oozes quality in its exterior appearance, interior, and driving performance along with world-class safety features such as "e-Assist." As a result it offers superior on-road safety performance with its advanced occupant safety features and high-performance 4WD drivetrain while also achieving excellent environmental performance through its extensive use of fuel efficiency technologies and reductions in weight.

PHEV Version Coming Soon to Japan
The Outlander PHEV, which uses MMC's new Plug In Hybrid EV System powertrain is due to come to market first in Japan early in 2013.

Global Strategic Model On the Move
Following the new Mirage, the new Outlander is also a "global strategic model" for MMC which will be rolled out globally. First launched in Russia in July, and then in Europe in September, the new Outlander is enjoying an excellent debut with over 10,000 orders taken in Russia already (as of the end of September). Following its launch in Japan the new model will be introduced in other markets, including Oceania and North America.

Emphasis on World-Class Safety
The new Outlander series is offered in four trim levels: the 24G, 24G Safety Package, 24G Navi Package 2.4-liter gasoline powered 4WD models and the 20G 2.0-liter gasoline powered 2WD model. Offered for the first time on a MMC product, 24G Safety Package and 24G Navi Package trim levels come standard with the company's new "e-Assist" advanced safety technology which helps prevent forward collisions and lane drifting. With "e-Assist" and other passive and active safety features, MMC has put together a next-generation mid-size SUV that puts maximum emphasis on the comfort and safety of the occupants.
