OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2012.  In September 2012, representatives of the Finland-based company Fortum visited JSC Khiagda (part of ARMZ Uranium Holding) to perform an environmental assessment. They met with the company’s management and personnel and assessed the relevant environmental, health and safety procedures and visited major production facilities.

Based on the findings of the assessment, Fortum’s representatives noted that JSC Khiagda strives to both comprehensively develop its quality, environmental, health and safety and emergency management systems, and to obtain ISO 9001-14001 certificates. The company’s activities in these spheres have been recognized to be at the level where compliance and certification against all applicable standards is achievable after the finalization of the construction of the new production facilities. Fortum’s representatives also recommended that a number of production processes be automated during implementation of the facility construction project.

The environmental assessment was performed within the scope of cooperation between the Fortum and ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. on the monitoring of a nuclear fuel supply chain.
