OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2012. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company has paid RUB 2 m under compulsory liability insurance of an owner of a hazardous facility. The insured event was documented in July this year at one of the mines in Kemerovo Region.

In the course of road lining works partial roof rock and conveyor screw fall took place not far from the coalface. Subsequently, a man was covered by the rock fall and died of the injuries suffered.

The event was recognized the insured event. Following an investigation of the incident and acquisition of the required documents, Ingosstrakh Insurance Company paid RUB 2 m to the miner's family.

The amount of the insurance payment under the compulsory Liability insurance agreement for harm infliction resulting from an accident at hazardous facilities as related to the insurance indemnity to the persons incurring losses resulting from death of the aggrieved person (breadwinner) has been established in accordance with the Federal Law No. 225-FZ “On Compulsory Liability Insurance of an Owner of a Hazardous Facility against Damage resulting from an Accident at a Hazardous Facility” as of July 27, 2010.

“This example proves that the new law works and the aggrieved persons obtain insurance compensations in a timely manner,” comments Andrey Kopytok, Deputy Head of the Liability Insurance Management, Head of the Department for Hazardous Facilities Insurance of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. “The new insurance rules provide the aggrieved persons and their families with real financial compensations within specific time frames, they relieve people from the necessity to elicit truth in courts or wait for the public authorities to help.”

The Federal Law No. 225-FZ “On Compulsory Liability Insurance of an Owner of a Hazardous Facility against Damage resulting from an Accident at a Hazardous Facility” as of July 27, 2010 came into effect on January 1, 2012. The law sets out specific amounts of insurance payment to the aggrieved persons or their families as related to the insurance indemnity for harm infliction to life, health and property of citizens in case of an accident at a hazardous facility. The insurance payment in case of death of an aggrieved person including enterprise workers amounts to RUB 2 m, and in case of harm infliction to life or personal injury – up to RUB 2 m. In case of natural person property damage it goes up to RUB 360,000, and entity property damage – up to RUB 500,000. If living conditions are violated, e. g. people are bound to change their domicile, the insurance payment shall not exceed RUB 200,000 to compensate for the associated expenses borne.
