OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2012. According to the ranking in 2011 the minimal wage (MW) was USD 87.6. For correct comparison MW is expressed in USD by Purchasing power Parity (PPP).

Luxemburg ranks the first with WB equal to USD 1766.3; the Netherlands are the second (USD 1622.1); Belgium is the 3rd (USD 1565.9). Belarus occupies the 36th line (USD 304.8), Ukraine is the 39th (USD204.9), Russia is the 40th (USD 197).

The lowest WG is recorded in Kyrgyzstan and equals to USD 24. The ranking measures countries entering the World Labour Organization and UNO Convention “About Minimal Wage”. Some states were omitted because they have no common minimal wages.

For example, in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, China, Vietnam and other countries there are separate MW depending on types of economic activities, regions, professions and professional skills. According to experts is also important to measure the ratio between WG and GDP per head since this indicator reflects most a degree of sociality in the state. In this regard Luxemburg ranks the 41st (23.95%), whereas Moldova is the 34th (26.67%).

The highest numbers were recorded in Pakistan and Ecuador (81.67% and 79.14% respectively). In Russia MW-to-GDP/head ratio makes 18.34% (the 49th). Experts think it means that legal MW in Russia is extremely low as compared with opportunities seen in the Russian economy today. FBK is a Russian audit consulting company.
