OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2012. At the construction site of the first power unit of Baltic NPP the builders of TITAN-2 Holding subsidiary OJSC UAT have concreted the building's foundation and are concreting the walls up to -3.70mark.

The construction of the railway spur "Neman – Baltic NPP construction site" is continued, where the builders of OJSC UAT are working to arrange the superstructure and substructure of the railway tracks.

Another Holding's subsidiary, Sosnovoborelektromontazh, OJSC is carrying out the works to arrange the railway communication and signalling systems: in particular, the assembly of railway overhead wiring and railway substation aimed to transform and distribute the power from the grid system is being performed, as well as that of 10kV-power transmission line and its poles.

TITAN-2 Holding is the largest Group of Companies in the North-West of Russia. It erects the most important facilities of nuclear industry and power engineering. Its organizations perform the full cycle of building and assembly works: from development of design documentation to the facility commissioning. The Holding consists of more than 15 organizations and employs about 4,000 employees with more than 40-year-experience in construction of unique and super-complicated facilities. The management company and the key engineering business-unit of the holding is JSC CONCERN TITAN-2.

The Baltic NPP project implies construction of two power units with a 1,150 MW –reactor of WWER type and heating capacity of 250 Gcal each. The design-to-life cycle of Baltic NPP is 50 years, and that of the key equipment is 60 years. The first power unit is supposed to be commissioned in 2016, and the second one – in 2018. The station location is the north-east of Kaliningrad region, about 15 km away from the town of Neman. The construction management company for Baltic NPP is Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The General Contractor is JSC NIAEP.
