OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2012. On November 1st, the 2012 Baghdad Autoshow was officially inaugurated in Iraq. Chery, China’s largest independent automaker appeared with a strong lineup of 13 models. With post-war reconstruction and economic recovery, the Iraqi auto market has grown rapidly. Baghdad Autoshow is currently Iraq’s largest auto show and has progressively grown into the most influential international auto show in the Middle East.

As an emerging market, Iraq has drawn close attention from many international auto brands. With great courage and effort, China’s top passenger vehicle exporter Chery launched its Iraq explorations early in 2006. It had exported 8,500 units to Iraq by 2009 and is expected to sell nearly 30,000 units in Iraq by 2012, with a market share of over 10 percent. Various Chery models are seen everywhere in Iraq’s streets.

Blending into the local market and getting close to consumers is one of the major factors for the popularity of Chery cars with Iraqi consumers. Chery has established six 3S service outlets in Iraq’s three provinces over the past six years. The annual output of Chery Iraq KD plant has topped 20,000 units and is expected to continue to increase in the future. Now Chery has become a well-known auto brand with favorable reputation and bright outlook.

Chery showed up with 13 fine models, presenting a characteristic demonstration under the theme of “China concept”. The Chinese-style booth and the elegant oriental models in cheongsam patterned by blue and white porcelain made Chery booth one of the most eye-catching booths at the auto show. A complete range of Chery models was on show, including hot sellers in Iraq like Tiggo, A3 Hatchback, A3 Sedan, H5, QQ6, X1, Fulwin Hatchback and Fulwin Sedan, as well as a couple of new models to be launched such as  Family Sedan E5 and Cowin5, and segment-B Sedan New Easter and Mini Truck YOKI. During the show, the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals of Iraq also visited Chery booth, posing with Chery’s staff for a photo. Local mainstream media, including Baghdad TV, covered Chery booth.

Throughout the show, Chery booth attracted endless streams of visitors, inquirers and purchasers, who said they like the fashionable appearance, rich configuration and high cost performance of Chery cars and they suit family use. Mr. Tarike, a journalist from a Baghdad newspaper, is a loyal consumer of Chery cars, too. He has a Cowin sedan, and recommended his family to purchase nine more Chery cars. E5, in its debut at the show, aroused his interests. “Having seen Chery’s tremendous technical strength and its appeal to Iraqi consumers at the auto show, we have full confidence in our future cooperation with Chery,” said Iraqi distributor Dr. Ahmed Sadeq Raheem Raheem.
