OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2012. Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) signed cooperation agreements on education, science and technology with three major corporations: OJSC "RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION CORPORATION "URALVAGONZAVOD", United Industrial Corporation "Oboronprom" and Intel Corporation.

The agreements were signed at Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development "Open Innovations". These agreements imply co-developing new materials and designs, biomedical, information and communication, energy and hydrocarbon production and processing technology. Moreover, the parties agreed on developing education programs for international level specialists training.

The agreements were signed as a result of the work undertaken by the Skoltech advisory groups that were formed last summer. They outlined priorities for the education, science and technology projects and have reached preliminary agreements with corporations interested in Skoltech capabilities. UVZ and Skoltech agreement was signed by the corporation First Deputy CEO Vladimir Shmakov and the institute President Edward Crawley. UVZ will join efforts with Skoltech in order to generate new high performance materials and designs and boost research and development work in mechanical engineering.

According to OJSC "RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION CORPORATION "URALVAGONZAVOD" First Deputy CEO Vladimir Shmakov, cooperation with Skoltech entails developing new materials at a centre specially made for that purpose. "We have been working on implementing such materials for new machines and we know that the market constantly advances demands towards them in terms of energy-saving and environment. We hope that our joint work will be a success and will help us perfect present technologies and create new ones", said Vladimir Shmakov. Skoltech President Edward Crawley said in his turn that the concept of Skoltech suggests dynamic cooperation with the industry.

"We rely on science and technology in order to accelerate innovation, and that is why we need to be in touch with industrial companies. On our behalf we intend to provide the industry with world leading research specialists and breakthrough scientific and technology developments. Our cooperation will focus on launch of product based on that research and training competent specialists for industrial companies", said Crawley.
