OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2012. The major source of finance for the government’s housing construction programme in 2013 will be personal investments of private households, Belarus’ Vice Premier Anatoli Kalinin told.

“The housing construction programme will claim Br45 trillion (USD 5.275 bn) in investments next year, including Br18 trillion (USD 2.11 bn) is low-interest housing loans facilitated by the government. The major source of funding will be personal investments and loans,” Kalinin said.

The vice premier assured that in 2013 Belarus will not rely on monetary financing to support housing programmes, although the government did so in 2011.

Belarus plans to commission 6.5 million square metres of houses in 2013, including 2.5 million square metres of affordable houses for low-income families.

According to the official forecast for 2012, Belarus is supposed to build 4.2 million square metres of houses.

Belarus commissioned 5.487 million square metres of houses in 2011 versus the annual target of 7.5 million square metres.
