OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2012. Lebedinsky GOK (“LGOK”), a part of METALLOINVEST, has successfully passed re-certification of its quality management system under ISO 9001:2008 following an audit carried out by the British business standards company BSI.

During the audit process, BSI representatives visited the main and auxiliary sites of the plant. The auditors recommended extending the ISO 9001 quality management system certificate. LGOK’s new certificate will be valid for three years.

Pedro Pastrana Socorro, a leading QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) auditor at BSI who headed the group of auditors, noted that LGOK’s quality management system is constantly improving. For instance, he noted that the required documents are kept in order and they thoroughly describe the relevant processes implemented within the system’s framework.

LGOK received a quality management system certificate in accordance with ISO 9001 in 2007. This acknowledged that the plant’s products are manufactured under supervised conditions and comply with customers’ requirements. As such, the decision of METALLOINVEST’s management to develop a quality management system in compliance with ISO 9001 at LGOK was another reason for the Company’s increase in competitiveness on the global markets for iron ore products.

Nazim Efendiev, First Deputy CEO and Sales Director of MC METALLOINVEST, commented: “At present, quality management systems at all the Company’s plants – Lebedinsky GOK, Mikhailovsky GOK, Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant and Ural Steel – are certified in accordance with ISO 9001. These certificates are testimony to the fact that our plants supply products that fully meet international standards and the established requirements of our customers.”

Re-certification audits are conducted every three years. In addition, annual review audits assess the functioning of the quality management systems and their conformity with international standards. BSI has extensive experience in management system certification and examining such systems at companies in Russia and around the world.
