OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2012. X5 Retail Group N.V., (“X5” or the “Company”), Russia's largest retailer in terms of sales (LSE ticker symbol: FIVE), announced today that the Company’s Perekrestok supermarket stores will be participating in the “Nobody’s Life Is Too Small to Change” charitable program. The program is organized by the Life Line Charitable Fund (the “Fund) to provide assistance to children with severe illnesses.

On select dates in October (20th, 21st, 27th, 28th), volunteers from the Fund will install special stands to collect spare change, in any amount, from customers in Perekrestok stores. The Fund will collect spare change in 128 stores in Moscow and St. Petersburg from 2pm to 6pm and all donations will be used to finance the treatment of children with severe illnesses.

Since May, the Company has rounded down customer checks, which are paid in cash, allowing customers to save up to RUR 0.99 per purchase. These saved kopeks may be donated to the charitable program.

The “Nobody’s Life Is Too Small to Change ” program was launched three years ago and during this time, the Life Line Charitable Fund has succeeded in collecting a total of RUR 6,367,899.44 from spare change donations. These donations have helped finance specialized medical treatment for thirty-nine severely ill children who are now enjoying a better quality of life.
