OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2012. Ukraine has completed the harmonization of phytosanitary requirements for the supply of corn to China. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Plant Quarantine of China signed a protocol. This was started by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

"This protocol allows us to export corn to China under condition of compliance with all fytosanitory requirements. This is a key document that helps ensure fulfillment of credit obligations" - said the Minister.

The minister added that the signing of phytosanitary protocol will allow after the conclusion of appropriate agreements to supply corn to China within the servicing loan in the amount of 3 billion dollars on development projects in agriculture.

Potential export of Ukrainian corn in 2012/2013 marketing year is 12.5 million tons, of which today have been exported about 3 million tons.

It should also be recalled that China plans to import 6 million tons of corn under quota. These quotas from year to year increase and for the next year quotas will be approximately 8 million tons.
