Chinese enterprises have developed technologies and gained experience in China’s development efforts and economic cooperations with other countries over the years. Particularly since China adopted the policy of reform and opening up, Chinese enterprises have had productive exchanges and collaborations with other countries in infrastructural investment and construction. As of the end of 2011, the total value of engineering projects contracted by Chinese companies had reached USD 841.6 billion, involving USD 539 billion of turnover. The projects covered more than 180 countries and regions around the world, and such fields as roads, bridges, power stations, ports, communications, petroleum, chemicals, metallurgy and water conservancy.

The Chinese government has been committed to the policy of opening up to the outside world. It encourages and supports Chinese enterprises to enhance the cooperation with their counterparts in other countries in infrastructural investment and construction, and calls for them to actively engage in public interest undertakings, fulfill their social responsibilities, and share with local people the outcomes of development. Currently, China-Romania relations are developing fast and in an all-round manner; there are close high-level exchanges between the two countries; and mutual trust is building up in the political sphere. All these factors have laid a sound foundation for the two countries to deepen their cooperation in the field of infrastructure. The holding of the 11th CET promises to lead the cooperation between China and Romania in the field to a new stage.
