OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2012. KfW IPEX-Bank together with BayernLB and Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg is supporting the IT service provider T-Systems with building Germany's largest and most efficient data centre. The bank consortium is set to provide a syndicated loan in the triple-digit millions for this purpose. This loan will finance the 18-month construction phase including the installation of all cooling systems. The term of the loan facility will be 15 years. The financing will be structured as a leasing arrangement for which Hannover Leasing will be responsible.

Dr Ferri Abolhassan, Head of T-Systems International, said: "The new construction in Biere will become part of our network with data centres in America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Companies that decide to use cloud computing pay attention to high availability and data protection. With the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), Germany already has a clear advantage in terms of location. Moreover, we ensure the business operations of groups across the globe thanks to our TwinCore data centres and a zero error strategy."

The data centre will be built in Biere, Saxony-Anhalt, on an area spanning 24,000 m2. The new facility will meet the highest applicable standards for energy efficiency and its twin-core construction will ensure continued operation even in the event of an interruption. A large share of the processing power will be used for cloud computing. In cloud computing, IT infrastructures such as computing capacity or data storage are provided via a network called a cloud and dynamically adapted to suit a customer's needs.
